Conrad Tokyo to Offer Five Types of Piña Colada for a Limited Time at Bar & Lounge "TwentyEight"

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Piña Colada, Conrad Tokyo Bar Manager Daichi Tanaka, who won second place in the "Hilton x Bacardi Piña Colada Competition," will begin offering top-ranking cocktails, including his award-winning "Vamos."

Conrad Tokyo (Minato-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Neil McInnes) will provide five special Piña Colada variations for a limited time at Bar & Lounge "TwentyEight" starting July 8 (Monday). Alongside the top-ranking cocktails from the "Hilton x Bacardi Piña Colada Competition," including "Vamos" by Conrad Tokyo Bar Manager Daichi Tanaka, the lineup will feature the original Piña Colada recreated from its initial recipe and a non-alcoholic "Zero Colada." These unique creations by Hilton's talented bartenders promise an exceptional bar experience.

The Piña Colada, a popular summer cocktail, was created in 1954 by bartender Ramón "Monchito" Marrero at the Caribe Hilton. In anticipation of its 70th anniversary, Hilton partnered with Bacardi to host the "Hilton x Bacardi Piña Colada Competition" in 2023. A total of 288 bartenders from Hilton hotels worldwide participated, and in March 2024, the finals were held in Puerto Rico, the birthplace of the Piña Colada, where seven finalists showcased their skills. Daichi Tanaka from Conrad Tokyo, who advanced through the preliminary rounds to the finals, presented his original Piña Colada "Vamos," which featured a Japanese twist, and secured second place. "Vamos," based on Bacardi rum and incorporating nigori sake, coconut syrup, fresh pineapple juice, and lemon juice, is garnished with absinthe and repurposed pineapple pulp. It was praised for its simple yet bold flavor and its upcycled ingredients.

Starting from July 8 (Monday), the "70th Anniversary Special Piña Colada Menu" will be available, featuring Tanaka's "Vamos," the first-place "Piña Natura" by Matteo Giannuzzi from London Hilton on Park Lane, the third-place "Speculada" by the team from DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station, the recreated original Piña Colada from 1954, and the non-alcoholic "Zero Colada." This unique opportunity allows guests to enjoy one-of-a-kind Piña Coladas crafted by award-winning Hilton bartenders, all while taking in the panoramic views of Tokyo Bay.

Inspired by San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, where the Caribe Hilton is located. This cocktail blends Bacardi Carta Blanca, milk, fresh lime juice, flambéed pineapple juice, coconut syrup, and Asti, garnished with pineapple skin. It is a tribute to the beauty of Puerto Rico.

Vamos (Contest Runner-Up): 2,800 yen
A creation reflecting the meeting of different cultures. This cocktail combines Bacardi Carta Blanca, nigori sake, coconut syrup, pineapple juice, and lemon juice. It is finished with a spray of absinthe and garnished with dried pineapple.

Speculada (Contest 3rd Place): 2,800 yen
Inspired by the signature chocolate chip cookie of the DoubleTree by Hilton brand and Dutch speculaas (speculoos) cookies, this cocktail evokes childhood nostalgia with a tropical twist. It blends Bacardi Carta Blanca, coconut milk, pineapple juice, coconut cream, and speculaas syrup, garnished with crushed speculaas cookies.

Original Piña Colada: 2,800 yen
A recreation of the original Piña Colada from 1954. This flavor, representing Puerto Rico, was perfected after three months of experimentation. The recipe, blending rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice, continues to be loved by people around the world.

Zero Colada: 2,300 yen
A non-alcoholic drink that captures the essence of wonderful summer memories in a glass. It blends fresh pineapple, pineapple juice, coconut cream, and brown sugar.

Daichi Tanaka began his professional career in 2017 at The Peninsula Tokyo. He later worked as a bartender at Kimpton Shinjuku and The SG Club before joining Conrad Tokyo in April 2023.
