Now, there's a sake boom among Taiwanese youth! The catalyst for this trend is the charismatic figure in the world of Japanese sake, the sake enthusiast Masamori Yamamoto.

Taiwanese drinking culture, characterized by consuming substantial amounts and enjoying intoxication with friends, is currently witnessing a fervent popularity of Japanese sake among the youth in Taiwan.

Sake Enthusiast Masamori Yamamoto

On December 3, 2023, at the sake specialty store "Sake La Vie" in Taichung City, Taiwan, Sake Enthusiast Masamori Yamamoto conducted a sake seminar. The theme was "Casually Updating Tradition." Japanese sake, a traditional cultural asset of Japan, has gained international attention in recent years, becoming popular among trend-setting younger generations globally. However, there is still a considerable number who have reservations about trying sake. To address this, Yamamoto leveraged the strengths and weaknesses of sake, introducing a new way to enjoy it without preconceptions. He proposed the "Botanical SAKE Cocktail," a low-alcohol cocktail that can be savored with a juice-like sensation. With the aim of expanding the appeal of Japanese sake worldwide, he advocates for the exploration of new possibilities within the world of sake.

Furthermore, on the following day, Yamamoto traveled to Taipei and Tainan, where he actually served Botanical SAKE Cocktails featuring the "Phantom Brewery" series brewed by an anonymous brewing collective from Aichi. The cocktails, not only visually appealing like art but also easy to drink, received high praise from patrons at SAKE BAR "Kyuka" in Taipei City and "BAR alter" in Tainan City.
